An intentional Earth Day floral gathering
Sunday, April 19, 2026 | 12:00PM-1:30PM
This Earth Day, experience a moment of stillness with meditative floral arranging through the art of ikebana—traditional Japanese floral arranging. For fans of: Flowers, art, meditation, Japanese culture, yoga, and art therapy.
***Space is limited to 15 attendees due to the direct instruction that accompanies the mindful practice of ikebana.***
Surround yourself in natural beauty as you learn the basics of ikebana at the Greenhouse at Yetman Farms. Admission includes light locally-made Japanese snacks, green tea, guided reflection, and instruction by certified ikebana artist, Emily Stacy. You’ll also receive curated plant materials to take home. Please bring a small to medium container to take your plant materials. Paper will also be available.
Workshop outline:
- Calming meditative transition to an intentional space
- Intro to ikebana, including a brief overview and basic techniques
- Sample arrangement demonstration to practice looking for line, harmony, and balance
- Individual floral arranging time with reflective prompting
- Optional photography corner
Containers/vases, plastic kenzans (“flower frogs” in Japanese), and scissors will be provided to use during the workshop session. You are welcome to bring your own kenzan and scissors if you’d like.
